오늘은 성탄절을 맞이하여 Silent night(고요한밤 거룩한밤) 찬양을 배워볼께요~^^

Silent night은 1818년 크리스마스이브에 오스트리아의 어느 성당에서 불려졌다고 합니다

젊은 신부 조셉모어가 작사하고 음악 학교 선생님인 프란츠 그루버가 작곡했다고 합니다

<X-MAS>라고 쓰는 경우는 X는 그리스어의 그리스도(크리스토스) XPIΣTOΣ의 첫 글자를 이용한 방법이다. 프랑스에서는 노엘(Noël), 이탈리아에서는 나탈레(Natale), 독일에서는 바이나흐텐(Weihnachten)이라고 합니다.

holy : 거룩한, 신성한, 경건한

All is calm, all is bright - 모든 것이 고요하고, 모든 것이 밝네

calm: 평온, 침착한, 잠잠한 calm down

bright: 밝은, 선명한, 빛나는

 

Round yon Virgin, Mother and Child - 저기 저, 처녀 엄마 마리아와 아이

Round-옛날 영어 표현이며, '근처'(around)

yon -마찬가지로 옛날 영어이며'저기, 저기있는'(over there) 이라고 해석하면 됩니다

Virgin: 마리아- '숫처녀', '동정녀'

Child: 어린이, 아이

 

Holy infant so tender and mild - 거룩한 아기는 아주 온화하고 순하네

infant: 젖먹이 아기, 유아, 아기-아주 어린 아기를 뜻합니다

tender : 상냥한, 온화한

mild: 온화한, 포근한

 

Sleep in heavenly peace - 천국의 평화속에서 잠자네

heavenly : 천국의, 이 세상의 것 같지 않은

peace: 평화, 평온-peaceful: 평화로운

Shepherd: 양치기

quake : (두려움에) 떨다, 흔들리다, 진동하다-earthquake: 지진

​sight: 광경, 모습

 

Glories stream from heaven afar-먼 천국에서 영광이 흘러내리고

glory: 영광

stream : 흐르다, 흘러나오다

heaven : 천국, 하늘

afar: 멀리, 아득히

 

​Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia-천사들이 '할렐루야' 찬양하네

Heavenly host: 천국의 주인, (천사군, 성군)

sing : 노래하다

is born- <be + p.p> 수동태

'태어나다' 이지만 '낳아지다'라는 수동태

thy - 옛날 영어이며, '당신의'뜻

redeem: 속죄하다.구원(속량.구속)하다

grace: 은혜
